Here are top tips for you to prepare for the highly coveted entrance examination of IoE.

  1. Make a Proper Time-Table
The first and foremost is that you make a time table and stick to it. This way you will have an exact idea of what you are required to study and the time required for it. It is best to cover this time with regular amount of breaks and never study at a stretch. Most experts will advise you to study for an hour followed by a 10-15 minute break. Not only breaks save you from boredom and monotony but also lets you to retain things you’ve learnt.
  2. Focus on Concept Clarity Rather Than Rote Learning
When it comes to engineering entrance exams, more than anything it is essential that you have a clear idea of the formulas and concepts rather than rote learning of things for the papers. While you might require it for memorizing formulas it is important that for other stuff you make sure you clear your basis and concepts before moving on.
  3. Prepare Short Notes
It is very important that with each covered topic and chapter you make small notes or a comprehensive list of formulas which will come in handy at the time of revision. This will require you to be regular with your work but will surely make things easy at the time of revision.
  4. Practice Sample Papers and Past Questions
Although you cannot predict the questions it is important that you practice on the sample and previous years question papers available for the IoE entrance exam. You will be able to observe the pattern and have a fair enough idea of the type of questions to expect in the paper along with the time constraint.
  5. Take Mock Tests
Mock tests help you with practicing the examination beforehand in the similar format under similar constraints. It is like taking the real examination, and thus will help you with the examination setting. It will not only check your nerves and confidence, but will also test your preparedness for the big day.

  1. Prioritize Physics and Mathematics
Physics and Mathematics carry maximum marks in the entrance exams. So, if you are good with Physics and Maths, you will have higher chance to pass. Practice and learn these subjects as good as possible, and during the examination go for these subjects with highest confidence.
  2. Be Careful With Aptitude and English
Engineering Aptitude is tricky and may lead you to trap. So, be careful while attempting the aptitude questions. They do not only seek high attentiveness but also teases your brain. English is something that is not much difficult, yet most of the students fail to score more than 60% in it. This is because most of them do not give English much importance and thus fall into its prey. Practicing old questions and being cautious during the exams are the key to get through Aptitude and English questions.
  3. There is NO Negative Marking
Unlike previous years, there is NO negative marking this time. Although this reduces some stress of marks being deducted for wrong answers, this also increases competition among students. So, this time, smart guessing will give you a better chance to get better marks. Make sure you do not leave any question unattempted. If you don’t know the correct answer, make smart guessing. Your tactfulness plays a big role here, and you get more tactful by practicing more before exams.
  4. Time Management is Key
The most important of all is time management and it is important that all students preparing for the exam try to learn. Time management can only be learnt through thorough practice and regular mock/practice test taking. The paper pattern, duration of the paper and the number of questions to be attempted in the given amount of time is not something you will be able to pick up on the day of the examination. So it is important that you practice it and practice it well. During examination, take care of your time and make sure you do not spend more time on any subject.
  5. Stay Positive
Staying positive will not answer your questions but it will steer you clear of unnecessary confusion and panic. Being confident and optimistic can create miracles and keep negative thoughts away. This way you can give the best shot at the examination. When you enter the examination, believe that you will do great.
